Dental Implants
Dental implants are titanium root replacements that are surgically placed into the jaw bone. An abutment and crown are typically attached to the implant following healing. Typical healing time following implant placement is 2 to 6 months depending on the bone quality. Bone or gum grafts may be required in order to properly place implants.
The success rate of dental implants is highly predictable. They also look and feel like the patient’s own teeth and don’t sacrifice the quality of adjacent teeth as a bridge does. Placement of the implant is usually done under local anesthesia. Following implant placement, patients commonly report less pain than a tooth extraction.
Dental implants can be used to replace single teeth or help retain a denture or partial. Many options are available.
